Digital Transformation at Speexx Exchange in Shanghai

Every fall Speexx organises a knowledge exchange and networking opportunities for HR professionals. The core of the exchange is the presentation of Best Case projects by global companies and creating takeaways to implement in your organisation. At Speexx Exchange we meet with HR professionals in ParisBerlin and Shanghai.

What Is Digital Transformation?

The overarching theme of Speexx Exchange on all 3 locations is how to impact your L&D organization through Digital Transformation. Digital Transformation means driving technology within your organization to optimize your internal processes, any business process, including Human Resource Management.

Shanghai Exchange, as It Happened

At Speexx Exchange Shanghai HR managers met for a matinée of networking and discussing best practices shared by Senior HRs. Our Managing Director for Greater China, Mr Jun Zheng, briefly introduced the purpose and context of the meeting. Founder and President, Mr Armin Hopp, welcomed the attendees and provided some suggested topics on L&D for the discussions later on.

Shirley Zhao, the L&D manager of GEA, China shared a detailed case study, which showed the 5-year language-learning project in GEA with Speexx. She commented: „Most improvements after the launch of our English training project at GEA is that more and more employees are now having the courage to speak and use English in their daily work, which is very important to a multinational company as well as to creating a learning atmosphere.”

In addition, the HR managers from Bose China and TDL shared their best case projects in language training, highlighting achievements made in language training and key Talent Development areas.

During the group debate, participants commented on the progress made in the development of mobile and online learning and contrasting it with its downside. HR managers from Secco ChinaSchaeffler China and Heraeus discussed how to combat the potential negative side effects of digital transformation, such as decreased learning motivation. Also at the heart of the lively discussion were questions on how to assess the results of the training project and how to create a successful training project that contributes to the development of an enterprise.

TDL’s HR manager and CEO of VHR concluded the discussions with these inspirational comments: “HR managers should also have a motivation to be a CEO!” And “As team leaders, we should pay close attention to employees’ development. Sometimes successful training within a company is about our instinct, not just about correctly running a project.”

It was a great opportunity to meet face to face and enjoy informal networking. All participants will be asked to participate in the post-Exchange Speexx Survey, where their opinion will be sourced on topics such as mobile learning and the ROI of employee development. The results of the survey, are made available in the resource section, every year, in February.
