About

The Federal Administration, together with the Federal Council, forms the executive branch of the Swiss Confederation. It consists of seven departments, the Federal Chancellery, and around 90 administrative units, employing approximately 40,000 people.

Within the Federal Administration, proficiency in at least two national languages at level B2 or higher is a key requirement for leadership positions. More than a decade ago, the organization therefore began searching for a reliable provider of modern digital language training. At the time, most employees were familiar with traditional classroom-based learning, while digital learning formats were still relatively new to many of them.

Challenge

The Federal Administration needed a centralized solution that would enable employees to develop their language skills in a flexible and efficient way.

The organization required a provider with extensive expertise in online training and the ability to seamlessly integrate language learning into its existing learning management system, Global Teach.

Given the sensitive nature of the government environment, compliance with the highest data protection standards was also essential. Solution

The partnership began with a pilot project for the Swiss Armed Forces. Later, a large-scale public tender was launched for a comprehensive online language training solution that would be accessible to all offices across the Federal Administration. Speexx successfully won multiple rounds of the tender process and established itself as a long-term strategic partner.

Speexx delivered tailored solutions that met the unique requirements of different government departments while effectively managing a complex stakeholder structure involving more than 50 contacts across various public institutions.

The language training offering includes the right format for every learning need, from self-study courses to blended learning programs with individualized one-on-one coaching. This flexible approach is ideally suited to the diverse requirements of the Federal Administration.

Another key success factor has been the use of clearly defined learning agreements with employees, helping to ensure commitment and measurable progress.
