What is Intercultural Foundations?

Intercultural Foundations is a scalable intercultural training program designed to build awareness and understanding of how culture shapes communication, collaboration, and workplace behavior. It establishes a shared intercultural language that helps global teams make differences visible, discussable, and manageable.

In international organizations, friction often arises not from a lack of expertise, but from unspoken expectations and assumptions shaped by culture. Intercultural Foundations helps surface these patterns, supporting clearer communication, stronger trust, and more effective global collaboration across regions and roles.

Learning Objectives and Value

Speexx Intercultural Foundations focuses on awareness, understanding, and self‑reflection. Participants explore what culture is, how it influences behavior, and how cultural differences affect communication, collaboration, feedback, and decision‑making at work.

By developing a shared baseline of intercultural understanding, organizations reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen collaboration across cultures. Intercultural Foundations creates the conditions for sustainable international teamwork and lays the groundwork for deeper development through training or coaching where needed.

Learning Format

Intercultural Foundations combines three integrated learning elements designed for scale, consistency, and practical application:

Open Live Sessions

Within Intercultural Foundations, expert‑led Open Live Sessions focus on essential intercultural themes such as communication patterns, collaboration, feedback, trust, and inclusion. Delivered in an open, multi‑company format, these sessions create space for interactive exchange, shared reflection, and discussion of concrete workplace situations across cultural contexts.

Self‑Study

Between live sessions, participants engage with curated self‑study resources such as short videos, articles, podcasts, and reflective exercises. This ongoing learning supports deeper understanding, helps prepare for upcoming sessions, and encourages transfer of intercultural concepts into everyday work interactions.

AI Practice Partner

As part of Intercultural Foundations, the AI Practice Partner enables guided reflection and practice around intercultural workplace situations. Informed by established intercultural frameworks, it helps users examine perspectives and expectations without stereotypes or cultural labels, deepening learning beyond live sessions. All interactions remain private and anonymous, fully GDPR‑compliant, and are never stored or used to train models.

Scientific Foundations

Intercultural Foundations is built on well-established intercultural and behavioral science models, including Hofstede’s six-dimensional framework, Trompenaars’ and Hampden-Turner’s cultural dimensions, and concepts such as the Intercultural Iceberg. It offers a structured way to understand how cultural differences influence communication, collaboration, and decision-making in professional environments.

You have some questions?

When is Intercultural Foundations the right solution?
Speexx Intercultural Foundations is the right solution when organizations want to build a shared baseline of intercultural awareness across teams, regions, or roles to support effective collaboration in global and diverse work environments. It is especially effective for introducing intercultural learning at scale and aligning globally distributed teams. For deeper, role‑specific development, it can be complemented with Speexx Intercultural Coaching or other solutions.
What does Intercultural Foundations include?
Speexx Intercultural Foundations combines three complementary learning elements: 1) Open Live Sessions: Live, expert‑led sessions focused on practical intercultural topics 2) Self-Study: On‑demand learning resources for reflection and reinforcement 3) AI Practice Partner for guided reflection and practice around real‑life intercultural situations. Together, they offer a flexible and engaging way to develop intercultural awareness alongside daily work.
How is Intercultural Foundations different from Intercultural Coaching?
Intercultural Foundations focuses on building shared awareness and understanding across a broad audience. It is not a coaching program and does not include individual diagnostics, tailored development plans, or long‑term behavior change initiatives. Intercultural Coaching, by contrast, provides personalized 1:1 or team support for deeper, role‑specific development. Both solutions can be combined as part of a broader learning journey.
